Sean “Diddy” Combs’ week behind bars took another turn after the federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed he was transferred out of FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey and moved to Federal Correctional Institution Allenwood in Pennsylvania, a low-security facility.

The move happened the morning of October 16, shortly after Combs had a medical emergency last Saturday and was transported by ambulance to an outside medical facility for treatment.

Where he is now

Combs is now being held at FCI Allenwood in Pennsylvania. Like Fort Dix, Allenwood is classified as a low-security federal prison.

Officials did not provide a public explanation for the transfer. The timing stands out because it followed his medical emergency and his run of prison staff write-ups during his time at Fort Dix.

Fort Dix violations

While at FCI Fort Dix, Combs was written up by prison staff multiple times for phone violations and for getting into fights. He was also twice sent to the Special Housing Unit, which is generally used for inmates accused of breaking rules.

He also lost 41 days of good time credit, which can help inmates earn earlier release, along with 400 days of commissary privileges.

“Cushy prison” claims

Separate from the transfer itself, there have also been allegations about Combs’ conditions behind bars, including a claim that he had a contraband cellphone with nude photos, alcohol, massages, and fancy meals.

Officials have not given a reason for the transfer, and it is unclear whether it is connected to those allegations.

Why the move

Allenwood and Fort Dix share the same security designation. Some might expect a higher-security placement if officials saw Combs as an escalating disciplinary issue, rather than a like-for-like switch.

Instead, one possibility is that the transfer involves security and monitoring. Fort Dix houses roughly 4,000 inmates, while Allenwood has about 1,000. A smaller population could make it easier for staff to keep an eye on and protect a high-profile inmate.

Why he is in prison

Combs is serving a 50-month federal prison sentence after being convicted on two prostitution-related charges in 2025. He was acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.

What happens next

Transfers can be routine, but this one is likely to draw continued attention because there is no stated reason for the move, and it comes after his medical emergency and disciplinary record at Fort Dix.
